What is Rajyaseva?

The State Service Exam or the MPSC Rajyaseva Exam is conducted by the commission to recruit Group A and Group B officers in the various administrative branches of the Maharashtra state government. 

MPSC Rajyaseva Exam Dates 2020 was formally announced by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission on 03/05/2020. Maharashtra Public Service Commission organizes the Rajyaseva Examination at different national / state centres. Candidates should verify their eligibility criteria on the basis of the preference given by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission for the Rajyaseva post which published the test dates for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission Rajyaseva 2020. The important dates relevant to Rajyaseva 2020, Maharashtra Public Service Commission Until qualifying for an exam, applicants must verify the Educational Qualifications and Age Limit.

Before applying for any Institution of Maharashtra Public Service Commission exam for the Rajyaseva, applicants must have cleared graduation/postgraduation with at least 45 percent marks either in graduation or postgraduation examination from an accepted university/institution. Knowledge of Computer Operations is an added advantage to the eligible candidates.

Before applying for a position of any Maharashtra Public Service Commission Rajyaseva 2020, applicants will check the qualification You should define the professional requirement as below, and you should determine the minimum age and maximum level.

As of 31.05.2019, electors should be in the age group of 21 and 28 2020s i.e., candidates should not have been born earlier than 01.06.1991 and not later than 31.05.1998. (Both dates inclusive). 

The application fees can be paid through the payment gateway for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission Rajyaseva 2020, and the payment procedure can be carried out as ordered by the commission.

For the State Service Preliminary Exam, candidates have to pay application fee:

A few of the MPSC posts list out physical fitness/measurements in their eligibility requirements. Posts such as Dy Superintendent of Police or related to the Transport department have specific physical eligibility criteria.

The minimum height for the post of DySP is 165 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates.

Like the UPSC civil services exam, the MPSC state services exam is also conducted in three stages:

  1. Prelims
  2. Mains
  3. Interview

A candidate has to clear one stage in order to be eligible for the subsequent stage, i.e, if he/she clears the prelims, he/she moves onto the mains, clearing which he/she would be summoned for the final stage (interview) of the MPSC exam.

Stage 1: MPSC Preliminary Exam

This exam consists of two papers, both of which are objective in nature. Take a look at the following table for the details of the prelims exam. Please note that both papers are compulsory.

  • Candidates should note that there is negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • For every incorrect answer, the candidate will be penalised 1/3rd of the marks allocated to that question.
  • The questions on decision making (Paper-II) do not attract negative marks if incorrectly answered. These generally question numbers from 74 to 80 in Paper-II.
  • In MPSC, both Paper I and II are counted for the merit ranking for qualifying for the MPSC mains.

Important: In the IAS exam, the UPSC CSAT paper in Prelims is just a qualifying paper (33% qualifying criteria)

  • The prelims marks are not counted for the final merit list.
  • All the questions are set in English and Marathi except for those questions which are meant to test the candidate’s knowledge of English.

Stage 2: MPSC Mains Exam

In the mains exam, there are six compulsory papers. Paper I and Paper II are language papers while Papers 3, 4, 5 and 6 are general studies papers. There are no optional subjects in the MPSC, a change which was made in 2012.

In MPSC Mains, there is negative marking in the objective question papers.

Candidates who clear the mains exam are summoned for the MPSC interview. In this round, a panel of the MPSC board assesses the candidate for his/her suitability for the administrative career through a personal discussion. This is more like a personality test where apart from knowledge, the candidate’s attributes such as aptitude, presence of mind, communication skills, etc. are evaluated.

Update for MPSC State Services Examination 2020 amid Covid-19 outbreak:

The commission has released a circular stating the postponement of all the examination from March 1-7, till the situation is under control.  However, the date of MPSC State Services Examination 2020, i.e. 5 April 2020, can be reconsidered keeping in check the health measures taken up by the government in that week.
